Yemen | Surviving airstrikes in Saada

In Yemen, a total of 17,729 civilians have been injured or killed by Saudi and Emirati-led coalition (SELC) airstrikes between 2015 and 2019.

Saada governate, in particular, remains the most targeted area by the SELC.

According to the independent monitoring group Yemen Data Project (YDP), almost a quarter (23%) of all recorded air raids since March 2015 have targeted Saada.

On 26 October 2015, one airstrike destroyed the MSF hospital in Haydan, which is in Saada governate, forcing our teams to withdraw from the area.

We eventually returned in 2017, and by April 2018, were able to reopen the hospital.

In 2018, around 14,000 emergency consultations and 3,800 antenatal consultations were provided at Haydan hospital.
