All vacancies are advertised on our dedicated recruitment pages. If you haven’t registered on our careers website before, you will be asked to create a login account. You will then be able to save your draft application and return to complete it before the deadline.
When you click on Current Vacancies link, you will be taken to the page where you can search for all our current job openings. Click on the drop down box by Location or Department search options and select All or your chosen location/department.
Job alert - sign up for new job opportunities
You can save your search criteria and create a Job Alert. This will allow you to be notified by email of new opportunities that match your search criteria. Once you are happy with your search criteria, click on Save to Set a Job Alert, and add your email address.
Check your inbox to confirm your email and complete the sign up. Once you confirm, you will start receiving job alerts.
What to include in your application
To apply, you will be asked to complete a brief application form. Your application must include the following:
- Up-to-date CV (essential)
- Letter of motivation (essential)
- Answers to any questions specified (if applicable)
Please combine these items into one document before uploading it as part of your application.
To assist us in monitoring the effectiveness and return on investment of where we publicise our vacancies, please state in your application where you saw this vacancy advertised.
We also ask you to complete an Equal Opportunities Monitoring questionnaire as part of the process. This information will be separated from your application on receipt, and will not be seen by the interview panel or used in any way for the purposes of selection.
If you are subsequently employed by MSF UK the personal information you supply us will be retained in your personnel file. We retain this in accordance with our legal and statutory obligations, internal retention policy, and the Data Protection Act.
If you are unsuccessful in your application, we retain the personal information you have given us for a period of two years.
We share your contact details with the MSF UK Association. None of your personal data is shared with any third party. You can request access to that data or ask us not to share internally if you wish.

Letter of motivation
Your letter of motivation is the most important part of your application. In your letter, you should draw particular attention to relevant experience, skills, and knowledge gained in past employment or other activities to demonstrate how you meet the essential and, if applicable, desirable criteria necessary to meet the requirements of this job.
These are outlined in the person specification part of the job description. You may want to use these criteria as headings to demonstrate how you meet them, for example, by giving specific examples of your achievements and contribution.
Please ensure your letter of motivation is no more than two pages long (two sides of A4).

You will receive an automatic email to confirm receipt of your application.
All applications submitted within the closing date are reviewed by the shortlisting panel shortly after the closing date. . If you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, then please assume that you have not been successful on this occasion.
After the interviews and on confirmed acceptance of the job by the successful candidate, we will contact all applicants to notify them of the outcome of their application.
Due to high volume of applications MSF UK will not be able to provide feedback on your application should you be unsuccessful at shortlisting stage.
Shortlisting and interviews
If you are shortlisted for interview you will receive an email from the HR team giving you the good news and offering you an interview date and time, as well as any specific information about the format of the interview and if there will be any tests before or as part of the interview.
We aim to be flexible where possible when it comes to scheduling of interviews but also ask for flexibility from candidates. We may be able to offer you a Skype interview if you’re unable to attend in person.
If you have any special requirements for your interview please make them known at the time you are offered an interview so we can accommodate you as much as possible.
At the interview we are interested in finding out about your understanding of MSF, your motivation to join MSF, and how your skills and experience match the job and person specifications.
Your interview may include tests, and you’ll be advised of this when we contact you to invite you to interview. Tests are included to assess your ability to carry out relevant tasks and/or to see how you respond to relevant organisational challenges.
Typically, there is only one interview, which will normally be with the line manager and another team member. We may invite you back for a second interview.
We aim to respond to candidates within one week of your interview to let you know whether we’ll be progressing with your application.
After the interview
We aim to respond to candidates within one week of the interview. If you’ve been successful, we will contact you to congratulate you on your achievement to date and extend our offer of the job to you.
The offer will be conditional upon us receiving job references that are satisfactory to us and on you providing us with proof of your eligibility to work in the UK. Once the above is all confirmed, we will contact you again to discuss the start date.
We will then look forward to welcoming you to MSF UK and Ireland.
If you haven’t been successful, we will contact you to inform you of the outcome and to offer feedback from your interview. Please let us know if you would like to receive the feedback.
We ask you to provide the names of two professional referees, one of which must be your current or most recent employer.
MSF UK will only contact references once a job offer has been made and accepted. You should always check in advance that your referees are happy to be contacted before giving out their details.
Unless specified otherwise, candidates must hold an appropriate passport or work permit confirming their eligibility to work in the UK.
Where MSF UK is able to support a potential employee in obtaining a work permit will be specified in the job vacancy. This is dependent on the immigration laws and is role specific.
If the post you apply for is subject to a disclosure check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), this will be specified in the job description pack for the vacancy. Having a criminal record will not automatically prevent you from being considered for a position with MSF.
