Hello, I'm Dr Javid Abdelmoneim. I'm an MSF doctor and earlier this year I was working in northern Syria in one of our trauma stabilisation posts.

It's effectively a small A&E, and I was dealing with patients who have suffered mine blast injuries, but maternity patients and people suffering from complications of chronic diseases like diabetes, thalassemia, and strokes.

I've worked with MSF for more than nine years and can honestly say that I’ve seen nothing more impressive than the work of that clinic in Raqqa.

And that's saying something. I've helped rescue refugees on the Mediterranean, I was a part of the Ebola response in Sierra Leone and I responded to the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in 2010.

If you'd like to find out more about my and MSF's work around the world, use the links on this page below. Thank you.
