Money scam in Mexico: People posing as MSF

Please be aware there is currently a group of people operating in Mexico posing as Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) staff in order to scam people out of money.

We are aware of three names being used: Carlos Enrique Velasco Sluka, Dr Dean Saachi and Daniel Synclair. These men are posing as MSF staff and asking people for money and/or shelter. They claim to have lost their passports and need help getting home.

Please note that these people do not work for MSF and have never done so in the past. All MSF staff are instructed to call their home MSF office if they find themselves in an unfortunate situation like losing their passport. We then provide all the support they need to get home.

We are working with the authorities to establish the whereabouts of these individuals. We would appreciate you sharing this information and if you have any news or questions, please e-mail msfch-mexico@geneva.msf.org or use the comments section below.
