During conflicts and their aftermath, surgeons and anaesthetists are needed for assignments generally lasting from six weeks to three months or more. Responsibilities include general surgery, surgical-needs assessment, and training of local staff.
Requirements:

Post-MRCS or FRCS, with higher surgical training and an ability to work autonomously

Full GMC or Irish Medical Council registration

Ability to perform general surgery including Paediatrics and Caesarean sections. Some experience in A&E and orthopaedics is desirable

Ability to work with limited resources

Availability for a minimum period of six weeks to six months

Willingness to work in unstable environments

Minimum of three months travel or work experience in developing countries

Adaptable and able to work in a team

Flexible and able to manage stress
-
Able to provide training and supervision to others
