Few people know that only 10 per cent of MSF field staff are international field workers coming to the countries where we work from other places. The overwhelming majority of MSF field staff are national staff, working in their home countries. Dr Atim Hamza, a Ugandan medical coordinator now based in Nigeria, started with MSF as national staff in his home country. Here, he explains to Olga Overbeek how he came to work with us and, despite the sacrifices he has to make, why he continues.
