Frontline podcast: A new TB test brings hope

Date Published: 25/02/2011 01:37

In this week's podcast, we hear about the problems associated with diagnosing tuberculosis (TB). The most widely used test for TB hasn’t changed since it was first introduced in the late eighteen hundreds. In addition, the test fails to give accurate results in more than forty to fifty percent of cases. However a long-awaited new test is raising hopes that soon we will be able to identify TB more effectively, get patients on treatment faster, and help reign in this deadly epidemic. We hear from various MSF run initiatives from around the world, on the problems and medical developments affecting TB patients.
