Midwife

Interested in working for MSF as a midwife? In the video below, midwife Sam talks about some of her experiences working for MSF in Congo, and about what it takes to work for MSF in the field.  

Requirements:
  • Registration with UK or Irish council for nursing and midwifery

  • Experience in training and coaching other health workers

  • Experience in supervising and management

  • Willingness to be regularly on call for difficult and complicated deliveries

  • Available for a minimum of nine months

  • Minimum of three months travel or work experience in developing countries

  • Willingness to work in unstable areas

  • Adaptable and able to work in a team

  • Flexible and able to manage stress

  • Able to provide training and supervision to others

 

Desirable:
  • Tropical nursing course

  • Knowledge of STDs/HIV/AIDS

  • Family planning experience

  • Community midwifery experience


MSF is always looking for people with language skills and at the moment we are particularly looking for field workers with good French.
