The Imperial Friends of MSF is a support group for the NGO Médecins Sans Frontières MSF (Doctors Without Borders). We welcome students from all faculties, not just those studying Medicine. Our main aim is to fundraise and raise awareness of MSF and its activities.
MSF is an international medical and humanitarian aid organisation. We have speakers throughout the year who have experienced life in the field as logisticians, project managers, financial coordinators and journalists, to name just a few.
MSF in 40 Seconds
Disaster response
It takes large amount of organisation to mobilise, transport and create appropriate responses to whatever disaster needs assistance – MSF works in remote locations around the globe and without an exceptional non-medical team it would not be able to function.
MSF also relies on a dedicated team of doctors, midwives, nurses and pharmacists to deliver treatment to populations in need.
MSF’s core work is providing medical aid in crisis situations – armed conflicts, epidemics, famines and natural disasters – all of which call for a rapid response with specialised medical and logistical help. We feel that this work is worth supporting.
Friends of MSF events
Friends of MSF run various events: showing informational films, inviting speakers to Imperial, debates and discussions on current issues, as well as fundraising through cake sales, raffles and tube collections.
We work with other FoMSF groups across London to coordinate events and this year helped organise a charity run in Regents Park that raised over £25,000. We are passionate about MSF, and welcome anyone who would like to have fun supporting the work that they do!
