As you may know the death toll in Haiti is set to reach 1 million. Haitians who had little before now have nothing. They have lost everything: their homes, schools, hospitals and even their own family. It is crucial that we help NOW. The first month is the most important after a natural disaster as famine, disease and chaos strike if nothing is done.
Two London girls, Coral Amiga, an actress, and Fay Behbehani, a law student, have been deeply saddened by the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake. They were inspired to organize a fundraiser - invite as many people as they could to one big party where all the proceeds would go towards this cause through Médecins Sans Frontière. They specifically chose this organisation because of its exceptional support in emergency and ongoing relief for the Haitians.
They wanted an eccentric fun venue to host the event, and what’s funkier, edgier more original than a roller disco? Renaissance Rooms is “the hotspot for clubbing on wheels” and is infamous for their imaginative parties. The girls wanted everyone to donate but enjoy themselves while doing it and instantly thought that this was a rare chance for people to dance the night away on skates!
One positive thing stands true in the face of a natural disaster: people from all over the world come together to aid those who have been affected by the tragedy. And although the support so far has been outstanding, ALL help will be appreciated by the Haitians, no matter how little. So if you haven’t done your part yet, or still feel inspired to continue, come down to Coral and Fay’s quirky party for a wild night out in the spirit that you too are making a difference.
