On Thursday, 20th November, MSF will launch Condition Critical, a multimedia project that will help people from Democratic Republic of Congo to speak out about the chaos that has become their lives. Throughout the one year project Condition Critical will tell the story of their struggle to survive.
Little more than a decade ago, the long-suffering citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo could not have imagined their situation could get much worse. However, in the past few months, violence has reached its highest levels in years. 200,000 people in camps around the besieged town of Goma face hunger and a potentially deadly outbreak of cholera.
The peace process in Congo culminated in November 2006 with the election of Joseph Kabila as president. After fifty years of bloodshed the country is left in pieces and the scale of health needs is considerable. The great majority of the population have limited or no healthcare available to them.
The launch of the project will be marked with a feature film. Click here to see the trailer.
