We attracted a lot of interest at the Cardiff Freshers’ Fayre this year from people who had heard of MSF before, and from just as many people who had not. The interest also spanned across a range of courses, not only healthcare related ones. We were also pleased to speak to a man from Nigeria who had heard of MSF working in his village where they discovered that lead in the water had caused the deaths of many adults and children by lead poisoning (see more about this here and here).

We held an information evening for the freshers as our first event and showed them one of the Invisible Crimes films from the Congo. This was very hard hitting and the response was very positive with all there wanting to get further involved. In the near future we have a number of fundraising events planned including a film night where we will be showing the film Shooting Dogs (about the Rwandan genocide), a quiz night and a carol concert nearer to Christmas. The carol concert is always a huge success and always raises more funds than any other event of the year. This year we hope to have as much success as last year when we raised several thousand pounds.
