MSF UK Annual General Meeting 2008

Friday June 6th & Saturday June 7th 2008
3rd Floor, WallaceSpace St Pancras, 22 Duke's Road, London, WC1H 9PN

The 2008 MSF UK General Assembly was a great success this year, with high participation from association members, office staff and other MSF sections. Almost doubling numbers from last year, we were able to have some lively discussions about key operational topics to MSF UK and the movement as a whole.

Presentations

Both Friday and Saturday were jam-packed with discussions and debates on a selection of issues. If you would like to reflect on some of those issues and download the presentations, they are available on the association website:  http://www.mikesierrafoxtrot.org

Friday Evening (5pm-10pm):

  • Rapport Moral  (including finances, motions update and looking to the future)
  • The growing movement of MSF: New Entities
  • Nutritional Update: The RUF revolution: directions for nutrition in MSF

Saturday (9am- 6pm):

  • Alternative intervention strategies- the pros and cons of:
remote management, using implementing partners, 'bunkerization', assimilation
  • Operational Risk Analysis
  • Drug-Resistant TB in Uzbekistan
  • Political Islam and MSF
  • DEBATE: MSF should be willing to place staff in situations where they face a direct risk of life, limb or liberty

Of course the AGM would not be the same without a MSF UK Party! A good crowd of 'MSFers' enjoyed, food, drink and dancing at The Driver until the early hours.
